Christopher Gibson is a contemporary glass artist whose abstract work is rooted in close observation of the natural world, particularly the mountains and high deserts of the Pacific Northwest and Southwest. His work explores the subtle lines, colors, textures, and forms found within these landscapes, translating them into organic abstract compositions.
With more than two decades of experience working with glass, Gibson works primarily with sheet glass, crushed glass, hand-pulled glass threads, and finely sifted glass powders. Through layering and kiln firing, he allows these materials to interact and transform, creating nuanced surfaces, depth, and movement. His work reflects an ongoing interest in the relationship between landscape, perception, memory, and personal experience.
